I’m new to the writing community. I’ve written for years but since publishing my first book last year I’ve tried joining writing communities and groups because I wanted to get to know other writers as well as promote my book.
I stumbled upon the term NanoWriMo last month and had no idea what people were talking about, but they all seemed very excited. As any good writer I looked the concept up and discovered it was a complete month devoted to writers. It’s a challenge for writers to create a 50,000 word novel by the end of the month. Basically every day I have to write around 1,600 ish words.
It was harder than I first imagined completing the first day, but I did it, and now I have the first chapter of my second book basically completed. I’m happy with it- for now. My editor might chop it to bits later on but we’ll see.
So, NanoWriMo day 1 is in the books and quite literally.
