NanoWriMo: Day 2

Sooooo… I almost called day a two a complete failure. I ran out of time to write because of school work and sticky wallpaper. I ended up having a paragraph written for day two.

Only a paragraph. A total of 64 words.

Great going, I thought to myself, day 2 and you’ve already dropped the ball.

I could have stayed up and tried to get a 1,000 more words but I was tired and I knew I’d be no use the next day if I stayed up late. That’s when I realized the goal of 1,600-ish words is just a step towards the destination. The destination is 50,000 words, a novel. Sometimes in a journey you make more progress one day and less another. As long as you keep going in the direction of your destination, that’s what matters.

Instead of not updating my progress on the NanoWriMo website, I updated my total from 1,378 to 1,442. I’m proud of those 64 words, they’re better than the first draft I had of this piece so that’s something.

We’ll see how day 3 goes (as of right now not great but hey there’s still time).
